Practical Course Attendance
Unfortunately, if you're unable to be needled at the DN Practical Course during the Covid restrictions period (including pregnancy, needle phobia, metal allergy) we are unable to accept a practitioners enrolment due to our Covid-19 No Needle Policy.
If you're already enrolled on a Practical Course, you're welcome to transfer to a practical course at a later date (2021).
Please Contact Us.
This is an evolving situation where things can change at short notice.
We sincerly apologise for any inconvenience caused.
COVID-19 No Needle Policy:
Prior to COVID-19 restrictions, we allowed practitioners who did not wish to be needled for reasons such as immunosuppression, needle phobia, pregnancy, metal allergy and other conditions, to attend the practical course by providing a model to practice upon.
Due to restrictions on the number of people in a given space and the added safety procedures that we have implemented at our practical courses, this offer is no longer tenable until restrictions have been lifted.
In the case where a therapist enrols into a Dry Needling course but later becomes unable to be needled due to recent illness or pregnancy, they can put their enrollment on hold at no extra charge, until restrictions are lifted.
Access to the online theory modules & practical technique videos will be available and extended.
We understand that this may be disappointing, but we have made this decision based on the safety of all course participants.
Reducing the numbers of people at our practical courses will assist in compliance with the recommended safe distancing procedures and the time taken to perform screening health tests.
Thanks for your patience & understanding.
Consent Form & Covid Safe Plan:
Practitioners attending a CPD HC Dry Needling Course must complete the CPD HC online Health Questionaire & Consent form before attending a practical course.
This online Health Questionaire & Consent form can be found on the 'My Courses' page after logging in.

Practical Course Attendance
If you're unable to be needled at the DN Practical Course during the Covid restrictions period (including pregnancy, needle phobia, metal allergy) please Contact Us.
Due to restrictions on the number of people in a given space and the added safety procedures, we may need to limit the number of practitioners attending a practical course who cannot be needled.

Hepatitis B (HBV) & Dry Needling (1)
HBV is a highly contagious viral hepatitis. It spreads through contact with infected blood and certain other bodily fluids.
According to hepatitis Australia, persons who perform exposure prone procedures, meaning they could come into contact with sharp instruments or tissues inside a person’s body are required, by law to inform those who are involved in that procedure.
Given that Dry Needling involves the use of an acupuncture needle that is inserted into the body, and possible contact with infected blood, we are unable to accept enrolments from persons who are infected with HBV.

If a practitioner contacts CPD HC to let us know they are unwell before the practical course start date & time, they will not be able to attend the practical course, as they pose a health risk to all other participants and presenters.

Online Practical Training (1)
Liability & Responsibility for Online Practical Course - Please read carefully before confirming your attendance at the online practical course.
CPD Health Courses is not responsible for accidents or incidents using information, techniques, theoretical knowledge or advice provided at our training courses, either during practical courses or following your training.
The decision to use Dry Needling by you as the therapist is entirely your own.
We offer education and training that is researched, based on the current understanding of the mechanisms, clinical reasoning processes, safety protocols and evidence in the published literature.
As with all therapeutic interventions, it is the responsibility and obligation of the therapist to decide if Dry Needling is appropriate, within their scope of practice and experience, safe and effective for each unique clinical presentation.
Safe dry needling practise and training is dependent on excellent knowledge of musculoskeletal and visceral anatomy, surface and clinical anatomy and osteology.
The online pre-requisite modules are presented to all students as a refresher rather than an introduction. As a dry needling education provider, we assume that all students have genuinely completed all the online theory content and are well prepared to learn the dry needling skills taught at the online practical course.
We will assume that you have watched the online practical videos immediately prior to the online practical course when you will be asked to demonstrate your prior learning. We strongly suggest that you thoroughly practise the manual therapy techniques before your online practical course session to make the most of the available time.

Recommended Browser:
- You may not be using our recommended browser. Please use Chrome to access & complete your online theory.
- Here's the CPD HC website URL: http://www.cpdhealthcourses.co.uk/index/
Internet Speed
- Your internet speed is slow. To be able to view all the module slides, listen to the voiceovers & watch the video content you need a moderate to fast internet speed. Your download speed should be at least 3-5 Megabits per second. You can check your internet speed by Here. If your internet speed is less than our recommendation you should try and connect to a faster network eg home/work/friend/library/university/college. Another reason could be that you're connecting to the internet using a wireless connection. A wireless connection is significantly slower than a direct connection using a LAN cable to your modem.
Recommended Devices
- Our Online theory program is NOT compatible with iPad or Windows Tablets. Please ensure that you use a laptop or desktop computer and that you have performed a software update.
Clearing Your Cache
- Your browser may still use old files which can cause display or access problems. Clearing your browser cache may help our applications run better on your computer. To clear your cache please follow these instructions: Refresh your cache on a Windows Device or Mac.
Multiple Devices

However, you should make sure that you exit the program window every time you complete a Module or intend to continue working on another device using the "Exit" button.
Logging Out/In
- In some cases, the information that goes from your computer back to our servers may get interrupted. This might cause the system to crash and require a restart. Logging out, then back in again of your program may resolve this issue. You may also wish to shut down your computer and restart as well.
Please ensure you've tried all these solutions and feel free to get back to us with any more issues.

Why do we charge Transfer Fees?
This is an explanation of why transfer fees are incurred by any person who is unable to attend a scheduled practical course.
This response is general in nature and is not meant to address the specific concerns of any therapist/s.
CPD HC has been in business for the past ten years.
We present courses almost every weekend in the UK & Australia.
Every week, we receive emails from therapists who have booked their practical course dates but cannot attend for many reasons, including the death of a family member.
We believe every single person's reason for not being able to participate in the course without questioning their case's veracity.
Last-minute cancellations place our business in a challenging position, not just morally but financially.
If we are to continue to run a business, we need to remain economically viable.
Here's a typical example:
We have twenty-six students booked into a practical course at the start of a given month.
Knowing this information, we plan to have enough presenters, flights for those presenters, catering, courier enough treatment tables and supplies, and hire of a suitable room size.
Indirect costs include our presenters' fees in cancelling their patient lists on Friday afternoon and Saturday to teach at the course.
If six of the original twenty-six therapists tell us they cannot attend, giving us seven days' notice or less, we have a financial hole in the budget for that course.
We are also unable to fill places if a practitioner cannot attend at short notice, due to pre-requisite study that has to be completed before attending a practical course.
Regardless of why a therapist cannot participate, we have committed to paying for costs that are no longer required.
All of these extras amount to several thousand dollars.
The transfer fees we request from therapists who cannot attend for any reason are a fraction of the actual cost to our business.
The transfer fees are not penalties but are a small contribution to the debt we incur every time a therapist is unable to attend.
This debt does not respect the reason or morality of the circumstances.
Like many businesses in Australia and worldwide, we face rising costs and inflation.
At this time, we cannot see a fairer or more practical solution to this challenge other than asking therapists who are unable to attend, regardless of their reasons, to pay a transfer fee to partly compensate us for the costs that we have incurred and cannot get refunded for, regardless of our reasons.
We have a tiered transfer fee policy linked to the notice given by the therapist; the more notice we receive, the lower the transfer fee.
We believe that this is a reasonable compromise addressing this ubiquitous business challenge.
Thank you.
Transfer fees:
- £50 for transfers made 21 days or more prior to practical course commencement
- £150 for transfers made 20 days - 48 hours prior to practical course commencement
- £175 for transfers made 48 hours or less prior to or anytime after practical course commencement
Please refer to the CPD HC Transfer Terms & Conditions & On Hold Terms & Conditions.
Vaccination (1)
Please click this link: Guidance for Osteopaths - Blood Borne Infections Advice
Please see section as below:
Osteopaths and exposure-prone procedures
The GOsC has sought advice from the UK Advisory Panel for Healthcare Workers Infected with Bloodborne Viruses (UKAP) in relation to the use by osteopaths of the following procedures:
- Intraoral examination or technique
- Vaginal or rectal examination or technique
- Acupuncture or dry needling
- Any other procedure requiring the use of needles or other sharps.
The advice of UKAP is that:
- Intraoral examination of the mouth is now not an EPP
- Vaginal or rectal examination or technique is only an EPP when sharp instruments or tissues are involved
- Acupuncture or dry needling are not EPPs as hands are visible
- Any other procedure requiring the use of needles or other sharps should only be considered an EPP if the hands are not visible.
Therefore, UKAP’s official advice (as of 28 July 2015) is that osteopaths do not perform EPPs.
Adhering to routine infection-control procedures
Regardless of whether or not these procedures are considered to be exposure prone, it is essential that osteopaths undertaking them adhere to routine infection-control procedures at all times.
Any osteopath who is undertaking: intraoral examination or technique; vaginal or rectal examination or technique, acupuncture or dry needling or any other procedure requiring the use of needles or other sharps should ensure that they have received appropriate training in infection control, adhere to routine infection control procedures, and keep their knowledge and skills in this area up to date through appropriate CPD.
The risk of infection of a patient is extremely low, as is the risk of infection of an osteopath by a patient.
Osteopaths who are concerned about the risks of infection from a patient should consult the relevant occupational guidance from the Health and Safety Executive.
